A BIT of reshuffling in the pack is on the cards for Wolves at Leeds Rhinos tomorrow, Friday.

Ashton Sims returns from suspension to replace Ben Westwood (broken hand) in the 19-man squad that is preparing to tackle Brian McDermott's side at Headingley Carnegie.

With Sims being a front rower and Westwood starting in the second row in Saturday’s draw against Wigan, Tony Smith has hinted at how he will get round the change.

“It might mean I have to play somebody somewhere else, whether Joe Westerman goes into second-row or somebody else goes into second-row, we’ll consider that. We’ve got a couple of options,” he said, although Jack Hughes is expected to continue at right centre for a third week.

One of the possible solutions is Simms joining skipper Chris Hill in the front row, with Mike Cooper switching to loose forward.

French back-rower Benjamin Jullien left the St James’ Park pitch limping but is set to continue in the pack.

Smith said: “He was just cramping up, as was Chris Hill. I think a lot of players struggled on the pitch to some degree. Lots were slipping on it and the surface was a bit different to what they’re used to.

“The players have been a bit tight in the legs this week. But Benjamin just ran his blood to water after what I thought was one of his best games for us this year.”

On the back of Newcastle and the approaching two games in four days Smith says this week’s preparations have been set up accordingly.

“We’re keeping things massively light, first off getting the soreness out of them from a rigorous game.

"It is about freshening our players up as best we can and get a good performance at Leeds. That’s all we’re focusing on. As for Monday’s game against Salford, we’ll worry about that on Saturday.”
