Bradford Bulls u19 16 Warrington Wolves u19 30

WOLVES’ Under 19s ended a three-match winless run with a hard-fought victory at Bradford on Thursday.

Stuart Barrow’s side ran in five tries, all converted by Joe Edge, to ensure they crossed back over the Pennines with two points.

“I was really pleased with the all-round team performance; from 1-17 they all put in a shift and got their just rewards,” Barrow said.

“We had seven first year lads at this level in our side and they all played their part, standing up to a tough physical challenge from a very good Bradford side.”

Wolves took the lead when Matt Heritage powered over between the posts, but Thomas Doyle stepped round the defence to level matters for the hosts shortly afterwards.

Joshua Rickett scored on the left to put Bradford ahead and give them a 12-6 half-time lead.

However, The Wire came into their own after the break and equalised when Nathan Ainsworth finished off Harry Reardon’s break.

Barrow’s men took the lead in unusual circumstances when Fynn Stanley’s kick bounced off the crossbar and Ellis Robson reacted quickest to score.

Alix Stephenson crossed for Bradford to narrow Wolves’ lead, but Reardon then intercepted a pass to race home unopposed for the visitors.

The game was made safe when Ainsworth and Reardon combined to put substitute Jacob Chamberlain over.

Wolves will now hope to follow up the victory when they welcome Wigan to Victoria Park Stadium on Saturday, kick off 12.30pm.
