THIS weekend sees Warrington Wolves take on Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Series.

But the clash at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday is just the latest in an illustrious history for the club and the grounds that have been their home.

Both The Halliwell Jones Stadium and former home Wilderspool have hosted notable international clashes.

1907 (December 21):

THE New Zealand ‘All Golds’ became the first touring side to play at the home of the Wire.

Warrington win 8-7 in front of an 8,000 crowd.

1908 (November 14):

THE first Australian touring team pay their first visit to Wilderspool.

Warrington win 10-3.

1929 (September 26):

WILDERSPOOL holds a record crowd for a Lancashire game as 24,000 see the county side lose 29-14 to Australia.

1973 (December 1):

WILDERSPOOL stages its one and only Great Britain v Australia Test match.

1995 (October 8):

1997 (June 8):

1997 (June 15):

Wolves manage to score 22 points past Penrith Panthers in game two of the World Club Championship, but they concede 52

1997 (June 23):

Another points fest as Darryl Van de Velde's men crumble 56-28 to Auckland Warriors in the final home game of the World Club Championship

2011 (October 28):

Australia thrash New Zealand in the first Four Nations clash to be staged at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
