WOLVES hooker Daryl Clark has handed the club a pre-season boost by signing a new contract with the club.

The 23-year-old, a six-cap England international, has penned fresh terms that sees his commit his future to The Wire until 2020.

Former Castleford pivot Clark says the progress the club has made since he arrived meant he was only too happy to extend his stay at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“I still had this year and next year but I was keen to get my long-term future sorted and I’m pleased its here,” he said.

“I’ve had a really good couple of years with Warrington and feel like this is the place I can keep improving.

“I’m settled here, I’ve enjoyed it so far and as a club we are building something special and that just makes me more than happy to sign up.

“We’ve got a good group of lads here and I’m looking forward to kicking on now this is sorted.”

Clark, who won the 2014 Man of Steel award, is just about to enter his third season at the club having won the 2016 Players’ Player of the Year prize at the club’s awards dinner.

He is currently in Tenerife on the club's warm-weather training camp making final preparations for the 2017 campaign, following last season's appearances in the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley and Grand Final at Old Trafford.

He added: “We’ve got a great team and I want to continue to be a part of that.

"I think we’ve started to prove ourselves as a side and have got stronger and hopefully we can go one better.

"The club’s been improving over the last couple of years and I think it’s only a matter of time before we build a team that can do something special and I’d love to be a part of that.

"Tony Smith’s a top coach and ever since I moved here he and all the staff have been good to me there so really is no reason to go elsewhere.”
