WOLVES have confirmed the signing of half-back Kevin Brown from Widnes Vikings.

The 32-year-old, who has captained the Vikings for the last two seasons, has signed a two-year deal with The Wire for an undisclosed fee.

The transfer had been heavily rumoured for some time but Vikings chief executive James Rule confirmed it was only completed today after Brown passed his medical with The Wire.

Brown, who recently ended a six-year international exile when he appeared in two of England’s post-season games, says the potential within the Wolves side excites him.

“I want to win trophies and Warrington is a club that gives me a great chance to do this,” he said.

“With a great stadium and a big fan base I can’t wait to pull the jersey on.

“Being coached by Tony is something I’m really looking forward to and playing in such a talented squad is a dream.”

Wolves head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith briefly worked with the former Wigan and Huddersfield man during his time as Great Britain coach and says he is looking forward to linking up with him again.

“He comes with a reputation of being a devoted trainer, in terms of working hard on his game and being very enthusiastic about improving,” he said.

“After being in a situation where we had to recruit late we had a lot of interest from all parts of the world; when Kevin expressed a strong interest in joining us it was an exciting prospect.

“I think he’ll learn a whole lot through us and certainly the quality of person he is will add a whole lot to our team both on and off the field too.”
