WITH a season under his belt in primrose and blue, Daryl Clark is confident Warrington Wolves fans will get to see the best of him in 2016.

The 22-year-old hooker arrived from hometown club Castleford Tigers in the off-season and admits it has taken time to settle into life at Warrington.

But Clark insists speculation linking him with a move to Leeds Rhinos is wide of the mark.

“I keep reading about stuff like that on Twitter but it’s all rumour,” said the reigning Man of Steel.

“I knew it was always going to be difficult, settling in, but towards the back end I feel like I’ve got better and more comfortable where I am so hopefully that’ll help me for next year.

“Getting to know the lads, moving away from home and getting used to the surroundings, hopefully this year will put me in better stead for next year.

“I feel like I’ve got better as the year has gone on, but I’m obviously disappointed with how we’ve gone as a team.

“We’re looking to finish strong and then build for next year.”

He was one of three signings in the off-season, alongside Ashton Sims and Gary Wheeler, and Clark believes Wolves chiefs have recruited well again for next year.

“They’ve signed some quality players and I can only see it making us better,” he explained.

Kurt Gidley, Tom Lineham and Jack Hughes are set to join the squad for next year, while fans have already had a taste of Australian half back Chris Sandow.

Clark added: “He’s been pretty good the first couple of weeks.

“He’s probably going to take a lot of settling in, but he’s a great signing for us and next year I think he’ll come alive and have a good season.

“We’ve got quite a few good young lads so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more coming through next year and getting some more games.

“They (the likes of Jack Johnson and Sam Wilde) have been training with us all year and now towards the back end they’re finally getting their chances.”

Clark made his England debut during the Four Nations tournament in Australia last autumn, but says he is not yet thinking about November’s international series against New Zealand.

“Looking at the end of the year I would like to be involved in that,” he added. “But I want to finish the year strong for Warrington and kick on for next year.

“If that comes at the end of the year then I’d love to be involved, but I’m not really looking too far ahead at the minute.”

One place Clark has got the nod is as the UK cover star for new computer game Rugby League Live 3.

“I’m hoping so,” he laughed when asked if the makers have given him a good rating.

“It was a bit random really. I didn’t really know anything about it and then just got a phone call asking if I would like to do it.

“Obviously I said yes and it’s a good thing to do.

“I’m a bit of a FIFA fan, so I’ll have to change it up and give the game a try. It will be a bit weird playing as myself on a game but it’ll be good.”

First his eyes are on a trip to Huddersfield on Sunday.

“They’ve been pretty good the back end of the year, they’re fighting for a Grand Final spot so it’s going to be pretty difficult,” he said.

“But the lads have all been ripping in and we want to finish the season on a high, so we want to go there and get the win.”
