WOLVES under 19s head coach Danny Fullerton praised his charges’ ‘never-say-die’ attitude after a last-minute win against London Broncos on Sunday.

Jack Johnson scored his second try of the afternoon in the 80th minute to seal a 12th win on the trot following earlier scores from George King and Declan Patton.

Fullerton said: “I was pleased with the never-say-die attitude the lads have shown.

“Even though we didn’t reach our high standards, the way that we continued to play when things were not going our way was the sign of a great side.

“The composure from the scrum to create the match-winning try showed a great maturity. We didn’t panic at any stage and that has enabled us to get over the line.”

Joint head coach Lee Briers added: “It wasn’t the most spectacular of performances but sometimes you have to dig deep and find a way to win and that is what we have done.

“The London side were fantastic – they were big, strong and powerful and really did play some good rugby.”

Wolves’ Jake Eccleston won the under 19s player-of-the-month award for June.

Briers added: “Jake has once again produced an outstanding performance. He deservedly got the player-of-the-month for June and he has continued his rich vein of form.”

Wolves’ youngsters face their Widnes Vikings counterparts on Friday.

“We will be working extremely hard in the week to make sure we improve on Sunday’s display; it is a short turnaround but we will be ready for the game,” said Briers.
