CHIEF executive Andy Gatcliffe has explained Canada’s part in Warrington Wolves’ 2014 fixtures.
The Wolves boss is pleased to have secured for next year more Sunday afternoon slots, which he says is what Wolves fans prefer.
He said: “The compiling of the fixtures gets harder and harder every year.
“All clubs are asked to highlight problem dates for a home game, because those like Wigan, Huddersfield and Hull sharing grounds with football clubs have to fit in with that.
“We’ll highlight if we’ve got a wedding at the stadium or any other reasons.
“It’s so complex, that all the information gets sent off to Canada where there’s a computer that’s the only thing that is capable of compiling the fixture list.
“Then we get the fixtures in a draft format, all the clubs check for any aspects they are not happy with and changes are made if neccessary.
“It’s a hard exercise to do. We never get perfection, or ideally what you want.
“But when I talk to the fans a lof of them say they prefer matches on Sunday afternoons with a 3pm kick off.
“So one of the things I tried to do was to get as many of them as possible and I’m pleased to say we’ve got more Sunday games in 2014 than last year. I’m pleased with that.”
