Warrington Town Res 3 Witton Albion Res 2.

WARRINGTON Town Reserves clinched the Presidents Cup for the first time in the club's history with victory against Witton Albion Reserves at Trafford on Saturday.

Town's second string, who play in the Cheshire Soccer League Second Division, defeated First Division opponents for the third time in the competition, having also come back from 2-0 down with nine men against Crewe FC in the quarter finals.

Mike Grogan continued his fine run of form with a superb hat-trick against Witton, with his first coming after he had been put through by Chris Brown.

Grogan scored again after Witton's keeper misjudged a cross by Lee Dermody but their 2-0 lead was halved after the interval when Carter headed home.

A Perkins save then maintained Town's lead and Grogan completed his treble with a curling free kick before Deakin grabbed a consolation goal for Witton.

Town Reserves: Perkins, Parr (Taylor), Hall, Ward, Sinker, Brown, Ellis, Pithers (Crawford), Grogan, Dermody, Toone (Berry). Sub not used: Driscoll.
