PROP Callum Murphy broke his ankle as Eagle’s first game after the split into the Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three play-offs ended prematurely.
With the injury occurring after the hour mark, the result against the North division table-toppers stands.
In a mistake strewn game, Eagle had not looked like scoring.
Too often the hosts tried to break Garstang’s line through driving at the pack, but Garstang’s strength was tight defence.
Coach Danny Cahill reflected afterwards that they should have learnt from previous encounters, and moved the ball to the outside more often.
Eagle did have opportunities but made mistakes under pressure, which resulted in wayward passes and knock ons that snuffed out any attacking moves.
Eagle travel to Parkonians in Wirral on Saturday to continue the play-offs.
