Garstang 23 Eagle 10
EAGLE’S winning run may have come to an end, but they will still enter 2018 in a superb position.
Saturday’s defeat at unbeaten league leaders Garstang means they failed to improve on their five-game winning streak as 13 unanswered points in the second half earned victory for the hosts.
However, the Thornton Road outfit have held onto second place in the Lancs/Cheshire Division Three North ahead of the Christmas break.
Kieran Thomas kicked Eagle ahead before Garstang replied with a penalty of their own, but a slick move on the home line saw Thomas cross for the game’s first try.
The hosts levelled the scores at 10-10 at half time before two tries and a penalty after the break gave the scoreline a convincing look.
Eagle travel to Ashton-under-Lyne in their next fixture on Saturday, January 6, kick off 2.15pm.
