A SUPERB display in less-than-ideal conditions allowed Warrington’s under 14s to record an impressive victory.

In a game moved to Warrington at the last moment, poor weather and a small pitch made for a tricky environment but the hosts’ determination to finish the year with a clean sheet shone through.

They were facing a much larger pack, but strong defence in the first half gave them the platform to take their opportunities after the interval.

Charlie Bancroft crossed the whitewash twice, with Rorio Zheng finishing off a kick and chase to close out the victory late on.

Jude Smith added his name to the scoresheet by kicking two conversions to leave coach Dave Hartill beaming with pride at his players’ efforts.

“Sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and step up for each other,” he said.

“That meant not panicking whilst defending our line for long periods, having belief in your mates and everyone giving their all.

“As a coach, you can’t ask for more than that.”

The victory was the team’s sixth in succession as their season continues to go from strength to strength.

The team will play their final game of the group stages in the new year, but their next scheduled match sees them face Morley in a friendly on Sunday, January 14.
