Kendal 7 Lymm 7

LYMM emerged from a blustery trip up the M6 with their unbeaten record still intact.

However, the draw at Kendal means Adam Fletcher’s side were stopped from winning a Northern Premier game for the first time this season.

Olli Higginson’s try, plus Cormac Nolan’s conversion, ensured Lymm would not be making the journey back from Cumbria empty-handed.

The game kicked off with the hosts benefitting from the wind, but the visitors were still playing their attractive brand of rugby.

However, a combination of resolute Kendal defending and difficulty controlling the slippery ball in wet conditions kept them off the scoresheet.

With five minutes of the first half remaining, a horrendous injury to Kendal centre Damian Armstrong brought the players off the field for 10 minutes.

When the game resumed, the hosts took the lead when a mix-up at the base of a scrum led to Danny Barker stealing the ball and racing 70 metres to score between the posts.

Both sides had spells of dominance in the second half, but Lymm gradually gained the initiative.

With 10 minutes left, they finally broke through when Higginson crossed the line at the bottom of a driving maul, with Nolan adding the extras to ensure a draw.

Fletcher’s men face another Cumbrian side on Saturday as they welcome Kirkby Lonsdale to Crouchley Lane, kick off 3pm.

TOM Baker and Aaron Rasheed both scored hat-tricks as Lymm stormed to a crushing victory at Crouchley Lane.

Between them, Baker and Rasheed scored half of Lymm’s 12 tries as they maintained their 100 per cent record to remain top of the Cotton Traders Championship.

Tom Shard was also impressive, and his 22-point personal haul encompassed two tries and six conversions.

James Yates, Reece Forrest, Jack Worton and Josh Davies also crossed the whitewash for the home side, who travel to third-placed Wilmslow on Saturday.
