Morley 15 Lymm 37

LYMM will “tear teams apart” once the players become familiar with their new attacking structures, scrum-half and backs coach Andy Davies says.

The Crouchley Lane outfit scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to ensure their North Premier season got off to the best possible start.

Joe McGrail, Matty Connelly, Rich McEvoy and Ali Sutherland crossed the whitewash for Adam Fletcher’s side, with Cormac Nolan adding four conversions and three penalties.

“It was our first league game and it was a bit scratchy at times, but we can’t complain about five points away from home,” Davies said.

“Once we keep the ball and go through three or four phases, you can see our new attacking system working wonders.

“When we get it right, we'll tear teams apart.”

After falling behind to a Morley penalty, McGrail crashed over following a five-metre lineout to get Lymm on the board.

Immediately after the restart, McEvoy broke down the right and found Connelly in support to gallop home from 20 metres out.

Two quick tries allowed the hosts to take the lead, but that was as good as it got for them as Nolan’s penalty had Lymm 15-17 up at the interval.

The visitors dominated the second period and, after another Nolan penalty, McEvoy somehow managed to squeeze over out wide despite minimal space.

Nolan again added three more points with the boot before the bonus-point try came through Sutherland late on as he profited from a superb link-up between Davies, McEvoy and James Kimber.

Lymm 2nd 43 Stockport 2nd 7

LYMM scored 31 unanswered points in the second half to ensure a comfortably victory over their Stockport counterparts.

Joe Denman and Richard Halford crossed for the hosts in a tight first half at Crouchley Lane, with Tom Shard adding a conversion, as they went into the break 12-7 up.

However, they cut loose after the interval to run in five tries.

Luke Critchley, Rhys Jones, Aaron Rashid, Toby Phillips and Tom Baker all crossed the whitewash, with Shard adding three more conversions.
