LYMM continued their preparations for the new season with a fine friendly victory at New Brighton on Saturday.

In what was their final trial match, Adam Fletcher’s side ran in 11 tries in a game arranged at short notice.

Against a side that ply their trade two levels below them, Lymm went about their task methodically, with Joe Denman and Ali Sutherland crossing twice each.

Jake Ashall, Cormac Nolan, Tom Baker, James Kimber, Tom Bray, Richard McEvoy and Adam Bray also got over the line, with Nolan kicking seven conversions.

With their trial matches at an end, Lymm will now switch their focus to their first competitive fixture of the new season in the Cheshire Vase.

They travel to holders Northwich in a quarter-final clash on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Their National League Three North campaign kicks off at Morley the following Saturday, September 2.

Trafford Metrovics 1st 17 Lymm u23 22

A LARGELY youthful Lymm side produced a notable pre-season victory against an experienced Trafford Metrovics side.

Both sides scored three tries, with Toby Phillips crossing twice for the Crouchley Lane outfit.

Reece Forrest also got over the line for Lymm in a competitive affair that was in the balance until the final five minutes.
