FORMER Lymm Rugby Club player Alex Mitchell has helped England to the final of the World Rugby U20 Championship.
Scrum-half Mitchell, a former Lymm High School student, scored a try during a dramatic 24-22 victory over South Africa in Tuesday’s semi final, his third try in four appearances at the tournament.
He also crossed the whitewash in England’s pool matches against Samoa and Wales.
The 20-year-old, who also attended St Wilfrid’s Primary School in Grappenhall, started the game and will hope to do the same in Sunday’s final against New Zealand in Tbilisi.
Mitchell now plays for Northampton Saints but first discovered rugby at Lymm at the age of five, representing the club until he was 17.
His Lymm highlights include scoring a try at Twickenham to help the Under 11s win the National Championships.
Mitchell graduated to the Sale Sharks academy before joining his current club in 2015.
You can watch Alex Mitchell and his England teammates take on New Zealand in the World Rugby U20 Championship final on Sunday live on ITV4, kick off 3pm.
