Lymm Senior Colts 16 Chester Senior Colts 12

IN what was their final match as a team, Lymm's Senior Colts won their fourth trophy of the season by lifting the Raging Bull League Cup.

Their victory over Chester at Beechwood came about in dramatic fashion as James Pitcher's last-gasp try won them the trophy.

Lymm were allowed to add another accolade to their astonishing collection, having already won the Raging Bull North West A League, the Prelim League and the Cheshire under 18s Cup in 2017.

Having also won three trophies last year as a Junior Colts team, this group of players has become one of the most successful Colts teams in Lymm's history.

The game itself was not a free-flowing one but both teams showed real aggression and intensity.

Will Titherington opened the scoring with a penalty but, just as Lymm looked like getting on top, Chester scored an unconverted try to take a 5-3 half-time lead.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with Titherington slotting a brace of penalties to put Lymm back into the lead.

However, Chester were still very much in it as an excellent turnover gave them the chance to break away and score their second try, which this time was converted.

That gave them a 12-9 lead with 10 minutes of the game left and they fought hard to keep Lymm out.

They even had the chance to kick the ball dead to win the game, but knocked on in the process to give Lymm one more play.

From the resulting scrum, the ball was worked out for Pitcher to dart over and spark wild celebrations, with Titherington's conversion capping a remarkable victory.
