Whitchurch 2nd 27 Warrington 2nd 13
WARRINGTON Rugby Club's second string were well beaten by an experienced and powerful Whitchurch outfit.
The hosts took an early lead with an unconverted try before the Whitchurch forwards took control, leading to a driving try.
Warrington, with stand-in captain Steve Tickle, managed an appearance on the scoresheet with a penalty from Ben Dixon.
Ten minutes later, Warrington drew level when Dixon executed an exquisite offload to Dan Griffiths and the centre strolled over.
Dixon added the extras but on the stroke of half time Whitchurch added a further five points with a forwards try.
The Whitchurch lead was cut to just two points when Dixon kicked a second penalty 10 minutes into the second period but a further two tries, with one converted, saw Whitchurch glide to victory.
Upon reflection Tickle said: “I was especially impressed with the performances of Keenan O’Toole, Ben Dixon and man-of-the-match Zak Nichols.”
