LYMM’S under 14s and under 12s mixed it with European opposition on Saturday as they welcomed a team from Portugal to Beechwood for a tournament.
They hosted Academica de Coimbra, who brought enough players to compete in a 15-a-side under 14s tournament, with the under 12s running a 7-a-side competition.
Manchester and Knutsford also sent teams to the tournament and Lymm under 14s topped the group phase before beating Knutsford 17-5 in the final to win the inaugural European Friendship Trophy.
Lymm fielded two teams in the under 12s tournament against Academica and Knutsford and the home sides shared the spoils in the final, with Lymm Blacks and Lymm Greens drawing 3-3.
Lymm players will take part in a reciprocal tour in May.
