FORMER Lymm Rugby Club player Alex Mitchell is set for his first start for England Under 20s tomorrow, Friday.

The 19-year-old, a former student of St Wilfrid’s Primary School in Grappenhall and Lymm High School, will start at scrum-half in the Six Nations fixture against Italy in Darlington.

Mitchell, who now plays for Northampton Saints, has appeared from the bench in England’s wins over France and Wales so far in the tournament, his only two Under 20s caps having featured 13 times for the Under 18s.

He was in the Under 20s squad last year, but injury meant he missed out on the World U20 Championships in Manchester, which England won.

Having first played rugby at Lymm aged five, he represented the club all the way up to Under 19s level and made his first-team debut aged 17.

Highlights of his career at the club include scoring a try at Twickenham to help the Under 11s win the National Championships.

Mitchell graduated to the Sale Sharks academy before joining his current club in 2015.
