Rossendale 54 Lymm 6

INJURY-HIT Lymm endured a miserable day on Saturday as they were thumped on the road at second-placed Rossendale.

Adam Fletcher’s side, who were missing several key players, were facing a team who they beat heavily at Beechwood earlier in the season but had won ten of their eleven games since.

The game went to form as Lymm conceded eight tries at Marl Pits and failed to breach the home defence at the other end.

Lymm went into the game without the likes of Andy Davies, Ollie Higginson, Richard McEvoy and Tom Baker, with 17-year-old Lucas Titherington coming in for his debut.

Rossendale’s superior experience was evident throughout as Ryan McKibbin crossed for a converted try within the first six minutes before Cormac Nolan’s penalty kick put the visitors on the board.

This seemed to boost Lymm’s confidence and they went on to trouble their hosts, forcing another penalty which Nolan converted to narrow the gap to just one point.

Sadly, however, that was as good as it got for Fletcher’s side and once Duncan Tout scored Rossendale’s second try, the hosts cantered away.

Alex Isherwood and Jack Ward secured a bonus point for the hosts before a penalty try and other scores from Isherwood, Tout and Fraser Lyndsey ensured a chastening afternoon for Lymm.

They sit ninth in the National League Three North table ahead and welcome Sandal to Beechwood on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
