Eagle 11 Winnington Park 32
EAGLE’S quest for a second victory of the season fell short as Winnington Park left Thornton Road with a bonus-point success.
The hosts, who sit bottom of the South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two table, fell behind to a try and two penalties early on as Winnington looked set to repeat their 72-7 victory in the reverse fixture in September.
However, Eagle fought back and Nathan Taylor kicked two penalties to keep them in touch before Simon Counsell crashed over for a try to level the scores.
The hosts were valiant, but the visitors scored three tries in 10 minutes to secure the victory and a bonus point.
Eagle’s next game sees them host Dukinfield on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
