LYMM’S second string failed to maintain their resurgence against Sale in a 37-20 defeat.

Trailing 27-7, two tries by Lymm centre Richard McEvoy converted by returning fly-half Reece Jones cut the deficit to seven points in the Cotton Traders Premier League.

The visitors looked rattled but Lymm were unable to capitalise.

Lymm’s thirds lost 93-0 at home to Raging Bull Division Three South table-toppers Widnes.

The previous week, the RFU television match official Trevor Fisher became the oldest person to play a debut game for the club when the 61-year-old featured in the third team’s clash with Whitchurch.

He had gone along to watch his son Sam play, but due to being short in numbers he played the full 80 minutes, starting at full-back and later moving into the halves.

In the first match of the re-seeded Senior Colts Conference A League, Lymm’s under 18s forced Sale to hang on to win 22-19.

Try scorers for Lymm were Ruadri Power, Lewis Mason and Alex Hull, with George Anderson kicking two conversions.

Losing to a converted try in the last two minutes was unlucky for Lymm’s under 17s at Bowdon in the Junior Colts Conference A League.

Lymm’s points came from a try by J Murphy and a penalty from G Hughes.
