Hull 26 Lymm 18

A SERIOUS injury forced Lymm’s clash with Hull on Saturday to be moved to a nearby pitch before Adam Fletcher’s side succumbed to a third loss in a row.

The teams switched to allow an ambulance to reach Steve Quigley, a prop for the home team.

Hull led at the time, and the game’s intensity dropped noticeably afterwards.

The visitors had reshuffled their own line-up due to absences, and they fell behind when the hosts dotted down in the corner.

Lymm responded by spending time in opposition territory, but they lacked a cutting edge.

They went closest when Ollie Higginson’s pass for a certain try was judged to have travelled forward.

The only points they had to show for their first-half efforts came from the boot of Corman Nolan, who slotted a penalty.

The pattern of Lymm dominance continued after the break, and they finally made it pay when Tom Bray crossed for a try out wide to give them the lead.

However the hosts assumed control with two quick tries of their own before Quigley was hurt.

Nolan added another penalty to narrow the gap, but the next score was a crucial one.

Frustratingly for Lymm it went the hosts’ way and as they established a 26-11 lead.

The visitors refused to lie down though, and Bray claimed a second try at the end of a spell of forwards-led pressure.

They sit 10th in National League Three North ahead of a visit from struggling Firwood Waterloo this Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.

The visitors to Crouchley Lane have lost all seven matches to date this season, including a 64-5 hammering by Wirral last weekend.

Lymm: Mike Auden, Ross White, Jordan Widdrington, Will Baldwin, Joe Watson, Jake Ashall, Sam Mullarkey, Adam Bray; Tom Baker, Will Titherington; Chis Owens, Oli Higginson, Tom Bray, Cormac Nolan, Joe Knowles. Subs: Dan Horton, Matty Connolly, Dave Williamson.

LYMM’S thirds produced a stunning performance to see off Village Spartans, recording a 74-17 victory on Saturday.

Using the larger first-team pitch at Crouchley Lane, the hosts were able to take advantage of their superior speed to devastating effect.

Prop Dave Coon stood out for Lymm after he crossed for two tries as well as kicking a conversion in a dominant display.
