LYMM bowed out of the Cheshire RFU Cup at the quarter-final stage when they were beaten at Sale on Friday night.
In a cracking contest against a higher-ranked side, The visitors took an early lead through Tom Bray’s penalty, but Sale grabbed the first try of the game shortly afterwards Adam Bray had been sin-binned for the visitors.
They dominated at the set-piece and moved further ahead with three more converted tries before Adam Bray touched down to reduce the deficit before half-time.
Sale added two more tries after the break either side of a Chris Owen effort for Lymm, but it was the visitors who scored last when Owen grabbed his second.
Lymm begin their National Three North campaign underway with a trip to Cleckheaton on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
