Lymm 46 Billingham 22

LYMM prevailed in a try-fest at Beechwood this weekend to secure third place, their highest ever league finish.

Ollie Higginson grabbed two early converted tries, either side of one for the visitors, to give the hosts the early advantage.

Aaron Rasheed cantered over for a third try before the break, before Billingham added a penalty to ensure they remained in touch at half-time, 19-10 down despite all their possession.

Lymm flew out of the traps in the second half, with Tom Shard’s penalty being followed almost immediately by a Will Baldwin try after another scorching break from Higginson.

Billingham responded again with another converted try, but Higginson set up Ross White to keep the visitors at arms’ length before Richard Halford galloped over to all-but-seal the victory.

The visitors did not give up and added another try before Callum Harris bludgeoned his way over the line to complete the scoring in a superb end to the season.

Lymm u17 20 Caldy u17 14

A STUNNING first-half display was enough for Lymm Junior Colts to see off Caldy for the fourth time this season and retain the Raging Bull Junior Cup Final.

Playing on home turf at Beechwood, Lymm roared out of the traps and grabbed an early lead through a try from Will Titherington.

They didn’t stop there, though, and further tries from Alex Hull and Lewis Mason, plus a conversion and a penalty from Titherington, ensured Lymm were 20-0 to the good at half time.

However, this was a game of two halves and Caldy came out firing after the break and two converted tries took the score to 20-14.

A further converted score would win the cup for Caldy and they duly battered away at the Lymm line, but they were unable to break through and the home side celebrated retaining the cup.
