LYMM held on to third place in National League Three North despite a much-changed team falling to defeat in their penultimate game of the season against Hull.
With Hull only a point behind, Lymm will aim to finish the season on a high by beating mid-table Billingham at home on Saturday.
Lymm led 8-7 at the interval courtesy of a Richard McEvoy try and Tom Shard penalty.
Hull, with the wind in their favour in the second half, set about pinning Lymm inside their own half and edged in front five minutes into the second period.
A kick was picked up and the ball was swept through hands for Hull's second try.
Shard reduced the deficit almost immediately through a penalty, but Hull utilised their set piece with a catch-and-drive try from a line-out to stretch their advantage to 10 points.
To their credit, Lymm refused to give up and they got back to within three points when Mark Dixon’s grubber kick was touched down by Tom Baker.
Ross White then barged his way over to edge the visitors in front, but a penalty gave the lead back to Hull shortly afterwards before they sealed the win with a late try from a rolling maul.

LYMM seconds were in the contest for much of this game, but injuries and fitness told in the last quarter.
Tries from Reece Forest and Zac Lythgoe, both converted by Matt Barker, meant Lymm were only six points behind at the interval, but the hosts pulled clear in the second half despite Alistair Wetherall’s early converted score.
