Lymm 33 Stockport 5

LYMM continued their excellent season with a convincing win over Stockport at a soggy Beechwood over the weekend.

After a tight opening in which Joe Knowles’ early score was cancelled out to make the score 7-5, the hosts cantered away with two tries from Tom Bray and further efforts from Adam Bray and Ollie Higginson.

The result leaves then in fifth place, just five points behind third-placed Sheffield with three games to go ahead of this weekend’s clash with Burnage.

Despite pools of standing water on the playing surface, the game got underway and it was the hosts that got on the board first when Callum Harris burst through and offloaded for Knowles to score.

Stockport dragged the score back to 7-5 with a try of their own, but Adam Bray raced over from the back of a scrum before Tom Bray’s first try made it 21-5.

Bray ghosted over from stand-off for his second try in the second half before Higginson rounded off the win, going over after good close quarter work from the forwards.
