No Twickenham day out for Eagle as they bow out of national vase competition

EAGLE’S progress in the RFU Junior Vase ended two games shy of a Twickenham showdown, with a home defeat to Northallerton on Saturday.
They led at one stage in the first half courtesy of a converted try from centre JP Ainsworth, while Dean Bennett’s score early in the second half gave the Thornton Road men hope.
But the Yorkshire side, sticking to a kicking and mauling game, weathered Eagle pressure and sealed victory with a further converted try and two penalty goals.
Eagle visit Bury in the Alan Stone Lancashire Bowl on Saturday.
