Lymm 16 Morley 21

LYMM surrendered a half-time lead against Morley in the National League Three North on Saturday.

Lymm started well putting Morley under pressure from the kick off and were rewarded with a Cormac Nolan penalty on seven minutes.

The hosts were soon 8-0 up and looking comfortable after a try from Nolan, who was unable to add the extras, extending their lead on 30 minutes with another Nolan kick.

As the half moved into its final throes, Morley began to find some consistency which led to a try on 37 minutes by their scrum half.

The conversion brought the score within four points at the break with Lymm’s Kieran Williams being shown a team yellow before the whistle.

Morley took advantage of the extra man in the 46th minute when a piece of individual brilliance by the centre resulted in a converted try before they extended their lead on 60 minutes.

Lymm looked set to stage a late comeback when, on 76 minutes, an unconverted try from a driving maul by Adam Bray brought them within five points, but Morley held on to take the points.

Lymm seconds enjoyed a 47-7 win over their Wilmslow counterparts on Saturday.

The victory maintained their impressive form in the Standish Media Services Division One, with Jack Whorton opening the scoring on 20 minutes with a try out wide.

Soon after, Lymm increased their lead through a penalty try after Rory Ridley Thomas was held back chasing the kick to the line.

Another try from Wharton, his eighth in three games, and one from Aaron Rashid put Lymm into a comfortable lead at the break.

Second half tries came from Richie McEvoy and Sam Gough, two, before Wilmslow grabbed a late consolation.

On Saturday, Lymm firsts travel to Sandal, 2.15pm kick off, and the seconds visit Bolton.
