Warrington 23 Wilmslow 45

WARRINGTON suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as Wilmslow outscored them by six tries to three in North West One on Saturday.

Wilmslow were never behind but tries from Zak Lythgoe, Kieron Hughes and Andy Roberts as well as a penalty from Luke Wood brought Warrington to within 10 points with 15 minutes to go.

Late comebacks are something of a speciality to Warrington this season but despite a rallying call it was Wilmslow who managed to score two tries late on and put the game to bed.

Head coach Darren Abram says his side will have to perform better during a tricky period.

“We had a bad day at the office” said Abram, whose side visit Bolton on Saturday.

“But fair play to Wilmslow, who were the better side on the day. We now have to regroup and prepare for a very difficult run up to Christmas.”

WARRINGTON seconds extended their unbeaten run with a 25-8 win over a strong Bolton outfit to go two points clear at the top of Standish Media Services Division One.

A Jordan Noone try and two penalties converted by Charlie McIlroy put Warrington 13-8 ahead at the end of an even first half.

Warrington scored 12 unanswered points in the second period via Dan Griffiths and Cam Lewis to secure the victory.

A HARD fight ended 34-31 in the favour of Warrington thirds against Chester thirds in the Raging Bull League.

The game was a close affair throughout, Warrington edging 24-21 in front at the break after tries from Tom Hockenhull, Matt Drinkwater and Dan Johnston.

Penalty conversions were exchanged in a cagey opening period of the second half before Chester crossed to move into the lead.

However, Warrington snatched the win when veteran Jeff Millington provided a perfect pass for Matt Drinkwater to score the winning try and conversion.
