LYMM’S under 14s retained the Cheshire Cup on Sunday with a 22-7 victory against Bowden at Wirral.

En route to the final Lymm defeated closest rivals, Macclesfield, Altrincham Kersal and Chester to claim a sixth county title for this group of players.

Lymm had the upper hand throughout the game with strong forward carries and a good kicking game.

Once they dominated the ruck and retained possession, the points followed with tries from Ruabon Birch, two, Sam Dolling, Declan Grogan and a conversion from George Hughes.

Over the season, Lymm have scored 1,074 points and conceded 85 with 13 tries conceded.

Other highlights include beating London Irish Academy 9-7, Heriots FP 22-0, Fylde 32-7, Wrexham 39-0 and Old Brods 57-0.

Lymm seconds faced a Broughton Park team who finished the league season as Division One champions and gained promotion to the Bateman BMW Premier League.

Strengthened by several first team players in this BEST Jug final, they were quick off the mark as they dominated early possession and established control of the game to lead 22-5 after 25 minutes.

Lymm’s youngsters showed plenty of character and fought to the final whistle and won the remaining 55 minutes 23-19, but had left themselves too much to do.
