Wirral 3rd 13 Warrington 3rd 20
SKIPPER Sean McDermott was delighted as his Warrington side came from behind to win at Wirral and go third in the Raging Bull North West Division Three.
“This was another good team performance,” said McDermott.
“The win was really down to our blend of youth and experience, with veteran John Morris scoring the first try and young John Morris, no relation, a worthy winner of the man-of-the-match award.”
Wirral opened with an unconverted try 10 minutes in, but Warrington replied when fast hands across the backs saw the ball find John Morris lurking on the wing, and the veteran second row bulldozed his over in the corner.
Warrington increased their lead when Jonathan Hughes handed onto for young scrum half Ben Hockenull to dart over, Matt Drinkwater converted.
A Wirral penalty and try either side of the break was answered by a Drinkwater penalty to put Warrington two points ahead, before Craig Davies skipped over for the final try.
