NEIL Baxter paid tribute to a ‘fantastic set of lads’ after Bank Quay Bulls were crowned Warrington Sports Personality Team of the Year for a record fourth time.

“I think you should be giving us the trophy and buying a new one after our name has gone on it for a fourth time,” said the rugby league team’s secretary.

“It’s a tremendous honour again. It’s rough and ready at Bank Quay Bulls but what a fantastic set of lads.

“They’re always behind you and always looking after one another.”

Neil’s comments indicate why Lee Westwood’s team were so successful in their 10th anniversary season, lifting four trophies.

Highlights included a 16-match unbeaten league-winning campaign and being crowned the BARLA champions of champions.

Neil, appointed Lancashire team manager last week, said: “It was always going to be hard to back that season up but we’re still in with a chance of three trophies this season.

“The lads have knuckled down since Christmas and, although we were disappointed to go out of the Challenge Cup recently against Queens, there’s still plenty to play for.”
