BANK Quay Bulls' Rugby League team's celebratory weekend was dampened by a GMB National Cup defeat to Crosfields on the day after the awards ceremony.

The amateur side lifted the Warrington Sports Personality Team of the Year award, sponsored by Tesco, for a record thrid time. That put the boisterous squad in singing mode as captain Paul Cragg leapt on stage to receive the prizes.

Then on Sunday they paraded the shield and the Lancashire Cup which they first won in 2004 around the Halliwell Jones Stadium pitch during the interval of Warrington Wolves' match against Salford. The Bulls, who also won the North West Counties Division Two title last season are aiming to gain promotion to the Premier Division for next season.

Bank Quay's Sports Personality prizes are a shield, £50 cash from Warrington Guardian, tickets to a Wolves match, passes to David Lloyd Leisure facilities, champagne courtesy of Majestic Wine Warehouse and subscriptions to Ultra-Fit Magazine for each team member.
