Town halt the decline
11:13am Thursday 18th October 2012 in Football
WARRINGTON Town seem to have halted their losing streak, but are still awaiting the return of their accuracy in front of goal after picking up two points from a possible six in the past week.
Two score draws do not tell the whole story and Town’s profligacy in front of goal has prevented them making a return to the top half of the Evo-Stik Division One North table.
After five successive defeats Yellows will be grateful to have picked up some points, but Town will be optimistic that they will make a return to winning ways ahead of the visit of two teams from the bottom four, Goole on Saturday, kick off 3pm. and Reid’s former club Prescot Cables on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

Yellows were certainly left ruing wasted chances in Burscough on Tuesday, with Town returning to Warrington knowing they could have won all three points on offer.
Prolific striker Lee McEvilly continued his scoring form after just 15 minutes when giving Town the lead with a volleyed shot from the edge of the area, but otherwise accuracy was lacking in front of goal.
Ash Ruane, McEvilly and Peter Dogan all wasted chances to double their side’s advantage in the opening half hour, meaning that when the hosts struck from a goal-mouth scramble it was enough to draw level.
The second half saw Town start to dominate the game in the middle of the park, but despite further chances for Ruane, Steve Porter, McEvilly, Luke Holden and Michael Reid, they failed to score the goal that would surely have won them the game.
