Greenalls prepare for back-to-back visits from local rivals
11:55am Thursday 23rd August 2012 in Football
GREENALLS PSO waited until the last moment to pick up their second win of the Cheshire Football League season, with two late strikes sealing the points against Billinge.
The former champions should have been out of sight long before they finally closed the door, Neil Sutch, Mike Evans and Lee Deakin missing chances to put PSO ahead.
Billinge had the better of the second half’s opening stages but they only forced Craig Clare into one decent save before the champions started to pile on the pressure.
More missed chances hinted that Greenalls were out of luck, until a deflected goalmouth scramble allowed Danny Topping to break the deadlock in the 85th minute. That was the breakthrough Greenalls needed, as with the visitors chasing the game Paul Dobson’s huge clearing header allowed substitute Andrew Fletcher to break free and beat the one remaining defender to slot home their second of the game.
Greenalls are facing two lots of local opposition in the next week, taking on Warrington-based opponents Grappenhall Sports on Tuesday, kick off 6.30pm, before travelling to Eagle on Friday, kick off 6.30pm.
Greenalls: Craig Clare, Alex Hardman, Rob Clarke, Jon Shakeshaft, Paul Dobson, Mike Evans, Lee Hughes, Mark Hughes, Neil Sutch, Danny Topping, Lee Deakin. Subs: Andrew Fletcher, Gary Fox, Ian Worley.
