Tigers beaten by best of the league

Appleton Tigers cricket team opened their new season with a match against a ‘Rest of the League’ team following their consecutive Cheshire Women’s Division One titles in 2010 and 2011.
The Tigers lost two quick wickets before a half century partnership between Raffa Rodighiero, 27, and Emma Barlow, 22, got them back on track, with a late flurry from Jen Regan and Chloe Page helping Tigers to 111 all out.
In reply, Appleton’s athletic fielding was outstanding, but though Nat Lyons and Nat Long took a wicket each they could not prevent the opposition from reaching the toal with eight overs to spare to seal the eight wicket win.
