AUSTRALIAN Dane Hutchinson hit 71 not out but Warrington were denied victory against Birkenhead Park in Cheshire County Cricket League Division One.

Ben Smith and Malcolm Agar combined in an opening partnership of 51 but Warrington slid to 104 for 5 before Hutchinson's innings helped them recover to 231 for 7.

Andy Kirby then took 2 for 29 but Birkenhead held out on 195 for 7 for the draw.

Warrington's third team lost by 65 runs at Birkenhead Park, who made 151 despite figures of 3 for 11 from J Tilston.

Warrington's batting display was poor, though, as they were dismissed for just 86.

The fourth team won by 44 runs at home to Birkenhead Park's fourths after posting a target of 122 with the aid of A Jardine's half century.

Figures of 3 for 13 from B Jardine then helped to dismiss the visitors for just 78.

Warrington's under 15s have started their season with victories against Oxton and Lymm.

Oxton were defeated by five wickets in the Cheshire County Junior League after being dismissed for 89 thanks to figures of 4 for 10 from Matt Regan. Tom Clutterbuck hit 31 runs for Warrington in reply.

Warrington then overcame Lymm by 74 runs, making 94 for 8 before dismissing their opponents for a paltry 20.

The under 13s won by nine wickets against Stretton, who were bowled out for 59, before defeating Appleton by 111 runs. Warrington made 152 for 6 before dismissing Appleton for 41.

Warrington's under 11s have started the year with wins against Bowdon, Appleton and Barnton.
