IT was another below-par weekend for Glazebury Cricket Club in the Cheshire Alliance as both senior teams are left still looking for their first win of the season.
At Hurst Lane, the first XI took on Ellesmere Port and despite a second successive last-over finish, they were once again on the wrong end of the result.
The day had started well for Glazebury with openers Gareth Banks, 55 runs, and Gary Dunlop, 44, putting on 70.
Glazebury failed to build on that, finishing on 143, but tore into the Ellesmere Port order.
Dave Acton took 5 for 45 and Sam Stanier grabbed 2 for 30 to leave Port well behind the run rate.
But an incredible late rally saw the visitors score almost 10 runs an over and win the game by two wickets with three balls remaining.
Glazebury's seconds were forced to settle for their second successive draw after an inconsistent display at Ellesmere Port's seconds.
Port ran up 195 for 7 before declaring in the last of their 48 overs.
The pick of the bowlers was Sean Caine, 2 for 40, as he bowled an excellent length all the way through.
When both Glazebury openers were gone with 32 on the board things became much more difficult.
Andy Durrington, 22, and Dave Gibson, 23, both looked in good order without going on to bigger scores, while Phil McCue, 46, narrowly missed a half century for the second successive week.
But with the highest partnership of the innings being 34, Glazebury never really gave themselves a chance of victory.
