WARRINGTON Wizards make the long trek to the north east to play Gateshead Storm in the Rugby League Conference National on Saturday.

Wizards will be looking to make it five wins on the bounce against a Gateshead side who have recorded three excellent victories from five games, including a 30-20 success at Featherstone Lions at the weekend.

The game will be a curtain raiser to the Gateshead Thunder versus London Skolars National League Two fixture and will kick off at 4.15pm.

Wizards go into the game on the back of a 66-6 triumph against East Lancashire Lions on Friday.

Joint player/coach Chris Mellor was pleased with his side's performance but knows that they will have to be on top form to get the three points at Gateshead.

He said: "We were very clinical once again against the Lions and we need to take that form with us into the game against the Storm if we are to get the win we want.

"They have really improved this season and will provide us with a stiff test."

Wizards will be without David Yii (holiday) while Jono Smith is doubtful with an ankle injury but they will welcome back prop forward Scott Davidson (suspension).

Joint player/coach Matt Wilson will also be hopeful of returning to the side after a holiday.

Danny Hoyland, Dane Evans, Carl Lloyd, Simon Weston and David Rolt are also pushing for a place in the 17.

* The coach will leave The Village Hotel at 10.30am for any supporters wishing to travel. To secure your place contact Nikki on 837829.
