WARRINGTON Wizards will aim to continue their fine start to the season when they entertain East Lancashire Lions in the Co-operative Rugby League Conference National at Wilderspool Stadium tomorrow, Friday, kick-off 8pm.

Wizards will go into the game full of confidence after a scintillating performance at reigning champions Featherstone Lions last time out and will be looking to maintain their formidable record at Wilderspool that has seen them unbeaten there in the league for almost two years.

East Lancashire have lost all three of their games so far but they have a number of talented players in their ranks and will be keen to get a win under their belts.

Joint player coaches Chris Mellor and Matt Wilson are happy with how their players have commenced the league campaign.

Mellor said: "There is a hunger for success within the squad and that is showing in the way they are training and playing.

"We know that we can improve even further and we hope to prove that over the next few weeks."

Wilson, who will be on holiday when the game takes place, added: "The way we played against Featherstone showed the lads what they are capable of and we need to try and repeat that against East Lancashire.

"The squad is increasing with new players wanting to join us so the lads in possession of the jersey know they have to perform well each week to keep their place in the side and this is having a positive effect.

"The team spirit is excellent and we are really enjoying our rugby at the moment."

Wizards will also be without prop Scott Davidson (suspension) and second rower Andy Addison (holiday).

Prop Matt Clarke (ankle) and winger Paul Wilson (work) are both available for selection again along with Danny Hoyland, Dane Evans and Carl Lloyd.

* Wizards are holding a pie-'n'-peas lunch with ex-Liverpool star Joey Jones.

The event takes place at The Alliance Centre in Norman Street on May 18 at 2pm.

Tickets are £10 each and are available from Dave Whalley on 07788 926917.
