RETIRED Cheshire firefighter David Gill, from Stockton Heath, returned from the European Police and Fire Games Championships in Belgium with a glut of medals.
The European Police and Fire Games is an Olympic-type multi-sport programme for full-time professional police, law enforcement officers and firefighters.
GilI was a member of the Great Britain squad and took part in track and field and cross country, winning five gold, two silver and a bronze over three days.
Gill won gold in the 400m hurdles, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, and 5,000m, silver in cross country and triple jump, and bronze in the 200m.
Thirty-one countries were represented at the games with 3,000 competitors taking part in events.
Track and field events were held in the Heysel Stadium which has held three European Cup Finals.
