WARRINGTON'S county bowlers were all winners at the weekend.

Tommy Johnstone, Rob Lawrenson and Lee Johnstone won their games for Cheshire in a 230-203 home victory over Merseyside.

Steve Gilfedder and Damian Morrison also secured successes for Lancashire's away team in a 215-202 loss to North Lancashire and Fylde.

Bowlers battled to an unusual finish in a Finlayson Cup match.

The overall score between Padgate TBC and Alford Hall C was tied at the point the last pair on the green were level at 20-20, either needing one more chalk to take their team through to the second round.

Bill Hinde came up trumps against Arthur Cash to secure victory for Alford in the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association competition.

The handicapping proved to be on the mark, with Alford give two chalks on every card.
