Widnes Tigers 52 Latchford Albion 12

LATCHFORD host Wigan St Patricks at Victoria Park Stadium this Saturday, kick off 2.30pm, on the back of a heavy defeat at Widnes Tigers.

Albion led 12-10 in the opening minutes of the second half courtesy of a second try from hooker Phil Woollacott, both scored from dummy-half scoots.

With Jack Phillips converting both scores the platform was laid for a tight second-half contest.

That was as good as it got for Albion as the hosts hit the visitors with three tries in 10 minutes to seize the initiative.

Albion started to tire and, due to injuries, were only left with one interchange for the last 20 minutes.

The hosts took full advantage to run away with the victory.

By the hour mark the hosts had extended their lead to 28-10, leaving the visitors with an uphill battle.

But they were not going to throw in the towel and finished strongly.

Dave McGuinness span out of a tackle and held off two defenders to ground the ball.

Shortly after, winger Jake Ashton showed great pace to race between the posts.

With Owen Nugent converting both tries the deficit was cut to six points.

Albion laid siege to the Bolton line but could not find another way through.

Ian Johnson and Sam Dobson touched down in the first half.
