Eagle Sports res 1 Garswood United res 0
GARETH Williams’ header ensured Eagle Sports’ reserve side won the Cheshire Football League’s Reserve Division Challenge Cup for the first time ever.
The player/assistant manager struck in the second half to ensure the trophy went back to Thornton Road.
Eagle had the better chances in the first half, with Matthew Coleman shooting wide of the post and Nathan Gallagher also going close with a header.
Midway through the second half, however, the breakthrough came as Williams rose highest to head home Luke Sutton’s corner.
Garswood stepped up the pressure in search of an equaliser, but Eagle held firm to make sure player/manager Danny Nixon will end his first season in charge with silverware.
