SEAN Neary made full use of home advantage to pick up a victory in the Ducati Trioptions Cup series.

The Lymm rider won the weekend’s first race as the series rolled into Oulton Park, his maiden victory of the 2018 season.

He followed that up by finishing third in his second race on Sunday to complete an excellent weekend.

The results mean Neary leads the championship by nine points after three rounds.

Having qualified in fourth place, Neary started the first race from the second row of the grid but moved straight into second after a good start.

He tucked in behind Lewis Rollo before taking the lead on lap six, with Rollo spinning out on the penultimate lap to allow Neary to romp home.

“I followed Rollo to see where his weak spots were for me to make a move on him,” he said.

“When I did get past him I kept my cool, checked my pit board and maintained the lead.

“I lost my knee slider with three laps to go so felt unable to get around the left handers so well.

“I had a bit in reserve as well just in case I needed it and am absolutely made up to get the win.”

The Zoek Racing rider did not get off to the greatest of starts in race two and dropped down to fourth place, with Rollo overtaking him.

However, Neary kept battling and eventually found his way past his rival on lap seven and held on to claim his second podium of the weekend.

“Third in the second race just caps a solid weekend at Oulton,” he said.

“I am leaving round three with the championship lead so can’t ask for more than that.

“It will be a long old battle this year but I’m well up for it.”

The series now takes a six-week break to allow for the two major road races – the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT.

Neary and his fellow riders will reconvene on June 15, when the championship will resume at Snetterton in Norfolk.
