FORMER Cardinal Newman High School student James Guy rounded off his Commonwealth Games campaign by picking up his fifth medal.

Guy helped England to a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay alongside Ben Proud, Adam Peaty and Luke Greenbank.

As with the other two relay silvers he has won on the Gold Coast this week – the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays - Guy and England were beaten by Australia as the host nation pipped them by just nine hundredths of a second.

Individually, the former Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School pupil picked up another silver in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 400m freestyle.

Para-swimmer Jacob Leach, who was born in Warrington and lived in Bewsey and Birchwood before moving to Cumbria, was also busy at the Optus Aquatic Centre this morning.

He finished fifth in the S9 100m backstroke final after qualifying through the heats overnight, and his time of 1min 6.59secs was a lifetime best for the Cockermouth SC swimmer.

Former Great Sankey High School student Kathleen Dawson had two races this morning as she wrapped up her Games.

Dawson, formerly of Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club, finished sixth in the 50m backstroke final before joining Scotland teammates Corrie Scott, Keanna Macinnes and Lucy Hope to finish fifth in the 4x100m medley final.
