Dewsbury Moor Maroons 26 Crosfields 16

CROSFIELDS finished with just 10 players as they slipped to their third defeat in four games.

After Chris Hull’s high tackle was deemed worthy of a straight red card 22 minutes in, the hosts were galvanised into taking a 10-0 lead with two quick tries.

Jordan Williams then reduced the deficit by crashing over after latching onto a flat ball from Jack Reid, who added the extras.

Two tries inside the first five minutes of the second half pushed Dewsbury into more of an advantage, but Soap refused to die and Williams spun a tackle before finding John Whittaker in support to cross.

The visitors cranked up the pressure and a superb Tyler Whittaker offload sent Nathan Taylor over in the corner, but that was as good as it got for Soap.

The home side kicked two late penalties before Tom Millington was sin-binned for a professional foul.

Williams then became the second Soap player to be sent off after he was dismissed for dissent.

“The effort of the lads was awesome,” head coach Jimmy Williams said.

“To play for over an hour with a man down and still be in the game till the death shows the spirit of these boys.”

Soap welcome in-form Stanningley to Hood Lane on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
