WOOLSTON Rovers will be hoping to build on the victory over Stanley Rangers last time out when they return to action at Barrow Island in National Conference League Division Three.

They head to Cumbria on Saturday.

“Having last week off wasn’t ideal as it would have been good to get back on the field straight away and consolidate from the Stanley game but there is nothing we can do about that," said Rovers head coach John Fieldhouse.

"What we will need to do is make sure that we are fully focused for the whole game and capitalise on any mistakes they make.

"They have only played one game at home so far this season and they won it so they will be confident of turning us over.

"We have to ensure that we take control from the start and not give them any encouragement. Hopefully we should have a few bodies back so that we can go up there with a strong side and come home with a valuable win but that will only happen if we all work hard for each other.”

The coach leaves Monks Sports Club at 10.30am for any supporters wishing to travel. Contact Nikki Whalley on 07889170895 to secure a place.

Meanwhile, Rovers A head to Rochdale Cobras in the North West Men's League Division Three looking to make it five wins from five.

“The lads are playing with great confidence and it is showing in our performances," said coach Andy Penny.

"We will be going into the unknown a little on Saturday as we haven’t faced the Cobras for a number of years but the lads will just focus on their own game and if we do that then we have a great chance.

"We are creating lots of opportunities in attack but the most pleasing aspect for me so far this season has been our defence.

"We are really valuing our own try line this year and making it difficult for teams to breach us.

"We will be looking for that to be the case once again this week.”
